Claire Nicolas White is a poet, novelist, playwright,, biographer, translator, art critic and librettist. Her work has appeared in such publications as The New Yorker, Atlantic Monthly, Harper's Bazaar and The Paris Review. She was born in the Netherlands and came to America when World War II began. In 1947 she married Robert White, the sculptor and painter, and moved to Saint James where she has lived with her family ever since.
