My goal is to create a visual world in which the ordinary becomes captivating and unexpected. I strive to create images that exceed the boundaries of our vision by blending realism and imagination.Through the camera, I pursue with both joy and frustration that which is usually temporary.
My background in fine art and computer graphics influences my work in that I strive to create direct, uncluttered compositions with painterly, ethereal overtones.The transition from film to digital photography has enabled me to control the entire creative process from conception through printing, so each image is truly my own. I select just a very few of my photographs for printing, then invest all my energy in those images with the goal of creating a work of art that is hopefully compelling and unique.
I prefer "local photography". That is, I choose to photograph people, places, and things that are close to where and how I live. A still life is usually created with objects I find locally or in my yard.Portraits are usually of family members, and my landscapes are typically images of the local life around me, within a few miles from home. Every image is a labor of love. Thank you so much for your interest in my work.
