Piper R. Lyman is currently the Creative Director of StudioPiper, a graphic design firm specializing in creating corporate marketing and promotional materials. StudioPiper has recently been awarded four "American Graphic Design Awards" for excellence in communication and graphic design from Graphic Design USA and two awards for "American Graphic Design Awards" for excellence in packaging design. Piper is a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design where she received a BFA in Graphic Design.

Most recently, Piper's painting "Daylight on Fire Island" was selected to exhibit in the juried 6th Annual Fire Island Light House Art Show. Her painting, "Stream of Color" was exhibited at the 92nd Street Y Art Center's 75th Anniversary juried exhibition. Her painting was part of a group show on view in the Weill Art Gallery, NYC. Four of her paintings ["Path to the Beach" (Dominican Republic); "Fall in Cheshire" (Connecticut); "Into Muir Woods" (California) and "The Light of Woodstock" (New York)] were selected by Douglas Elliman Real Estate as part of a collection of NY artists to be exhibited in one of their newly renovated buildings in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

"Many of my paintings were inspired by the places I've walked for the Avon 3 Day Walk for Breast Cancer." After accomplishing that challenge, Piper continued to visually document her travels through her series of paintings, "Journeys". With heavy brush strokes of bright colors, Piper tries to recapture the visual excitement of each local, often times taking clues from imagination. Piper's landscape series "Journeys" was on view at the Village of Great Neck Plaza last year. Her new landscape images are becoming more abstract. Some of her new oil paintings in addition to new monoprints can be seen on display at the Mineola Memorial Library through August 2007.

As an active member of The Artist's Guild (TAG) of Port Washington, Piper was part of their group show "Works '07" which exhibited at the Graphic Eye Gallery in Port Washington, NY this past April. She also exhibited with TAG at the Graphic Eye in 2005 and 2006. Through a grant from Long Island Council for the Arts, she has taught an outdoor drawing class during TAG's "Art in the Park" in both 2006 and 2007, an event which was part of Port Washington's Annual Harbor Fest. Piper has also exhibited several times in TAG's "Art at the Bank" at the State Bank of Long Island.

Piper also teaches art to High School students. Teaching mediums as varied as charcoal, paint, ink, or collage, and sharing her vast knowledge of art history, she works one-on-one with students to complete their college portfolio application to art school. Her students have been accepted to such prestigious colleges as Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), Syracuse University, and Pratt Institute.

Piper resides in Great Neck with her husband Hal who is a professional photographer.
