Spring 2012 CLASSES - updated 2-1-12 In Our Newly Remodeled Classrooms!
Registration is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis upon receipt of payment and is accepted through the first day of class when seats are available. Sorry, no refunds except for classes not running due to insufficient enrollment. Register today by mailing completed registration form and class fee check (payable to STAC). Makeup classes are not available for absences. Unless specified, materials fees are not included. Materials fees are paid to instructor on the first day of class. Spring Classes 2012 – in our newly remodeled classrooms!
Clay-Saics Where mosaics and clay collide! Create a mosaic with a twist! Choose or create a mosaic pattern and then use clay to add a third dimensional touch. Create flowers, figures, animals, tiles…the possibilities are endless. Bring an object to turn into a mosaic work of art, such as a small nightstand, large flat picture frame or footstool, anything with a flat side will work. Objects should not be any smaller than one square foot or larger than two square feet (Unless you prefer to do multiple smaller objects.) Teacher: Jessica Ferrar

Jewelry Making Have everyone asking you ‘where did you get that?’ Create beautiful, colorful jewelry with polymer clay! Learn how to color clay to make beads and pendants, create necklaces, bracelets, even earrings. Students will use stamps to add texture, design and learn how to transfer an image onto clay and patina, glaze, and paint their own beads. Explore wire wrapping to create show stopping pieces. Muddy Mondays Squish, Roll, Pat…Get Creative! In this introductory ceramics class your child will go beyond making “ashtrays” to make functional art while diving into the different techniques of ceramics. Your child will be making slab box, a bowl on their knee, a vase or mug, and an animal mask, decorated however, they would like. Students will glaze and paint their work for that added special touch. Art Rocks! Children will work to create fun and imaginative art creations using a variety of base materials such as rocks, shells, eggs, beads, etc. Designed for the budding artist, this class will cover the basics of color, pattern, texture, and shape. The children will make pet critters and delightful seasonal take-home treasures. Parents are welcome to join us! Please bring a smock and drink. Teacher: Jill Amorosano

Comic Illustration Workshop:Learn the basics of comic illustration including character development and story lines. Each student will create their own comic strip and take it home at the end of the class. (Bring a snack to class). Teacher: Michelle Posner

Collage Greeting Cards Workshop: After taking this class, your friends and family will excitedly anticipate receiving cards from you each year! We will create a birthday card and greeting card in this class using magazines, cut paper, material and other found objects. Teacher: Michelle Posner

I Love to Art Children will engage all of their senses while manipulating tempera paint, watercolors, clay and other fun art materials. Printmaking Mania Learn the basics of printmaking! In this class, you will discover how to create transfers of images from various objects, monoprinting, and how to take a drawing and transfer it to a printing plate to create one image several different ways and learn how the use of color, texture and pattern affect the mood and feeling of your artwork.
